The Mountain Institute

Methods of obtaining certification.

1.) Attend a course with an ITRA instructor and practice those skills and techniques. To avoid favoritism amongst instructors and students, you are not allowed to have your ITRA instructor also assess you for certification within 360 days of your course. You must schedule an assessment with a separate ITRA instructor than the one that provided your initial course.

*ITRA instructors may be able to provide assessment for potential candidates at the end of the course. A separate ITRA instructor would be scheduled for the candidates upon completion of their course. Ask your instructor directly about this option as it is not always available.

2.) You may already have years of rope rescue experience and are ready to take an assessment. You may simply contact an instructor or assessor directly and schedule an assessment with them or your group.
